About Zoe

Zoe

Hi, I'm Zoe. My favourite colour is green, and I love singing. I'm a research scientist at the University of Cambridge and a coach who helps people reconnect with themselves and build a life that feels true.

Over time, I've noticed that whether I'm working with students or executives, from Britain, Europe, Australia, or China, the coaching journey often leads to exploring the same questions: Who am I? What do I truly want? and How do I get there?

For years, I thought I knew exactly where I was heading. I would complete my PhD in physics and build a successful academic career. But during my second year of the PhD in 2015, something changed. I lost the joy. I felt anxious, exhausted, and confused about why achievement no longer brought happiness. Even so, I completed my PhD, and it was not easy. I rebuilt my routines, work habits, belief system, and support circles, almost every part of my life, but something still felt missing. Was this really the life I wanted?

Later, I learned that I have ADHD, and that diagnosis quietly opened a new chapter in my life. I began to understand that having an interest-driven brain is a gift, one that needs the right mindset and the right environment to truly flourish. That is why I decided to stop using my talents and hard work to build a life that looked good on the outside but did not feel good on the inside. Instead, I chose to design and live a life that feels genuinely fulfilling.

That is why I choose to work with people who are on a similar path. Many are high-achieving individuals who find themselves caught in cycles of self-doubt, loss of meaning, and burnout. Together, we explore the roots of procrastination and emotional struggle, and I support them reconnect with what truly matters in an ever-changing and uncertain world. I have received academic training in neurodiversity through postgraduate-level courses and completed ICF-accredited coach training with extensive practical experience.

Looking back, I never planned to become a coach, yet somehow everything I have done has shaped me into an understanding and empathetic one. From navigating the highly unstructured world of academia, to stepping away from the glamour of strategy consulting that never truly suited me, to managing international scientific projects and building my own start-up, each experience has given me a deep appreciation for the challenges and excitement of following different paths in life.

For me, life has never been a straight line. I have learned to embrace change, to keep learning, dreaming, and growing as I explore the many identities that make me who I am. This way of seeing life also shapes how I work with my clients. I believe that real growth comes from understanding ourselves with honesty and compassion, and from allowing who we are to evolve over time.

As for ADHD, I see it as only a part of who I am - something I could never have imagined saying when I was first diagnosed. If that feels hard to believe, or if you are experiencing any other form of neurodivergence or condition that feels overwhelming, I would be happy to walk alongside you until it starts to feel possible.

A Journey Together

It was a radiant day in May 2019. The sun bathed Cambridge in a golden glow as I stepped out of the Senate House, draped in a black gown, clutching the delicate, almost fragile sheet of my PhD certificate. I was smiling, buoyed by a forward-moving courage and the unmistakable thrill of accomplishment. Yet beneath the smile lingered a subtle shadow, a quiet, familiar disappointment.

This feeling was not new:

"If only I had completed my degree, I would be happy"

"If only I could find my life partner, I would be happy"

"If only I got promoted, I would be happy"

"If only I bought a house, I would be happy"

"If only I found my next job, I would be happy"

Perhaps you know this feeling too. We chase milestone after milestone, believing the next achievement will finally deliver the satisfaction we crave. Yet when the goal is reached, the joy often falls short of what we imagined. In the relentless pursuit, we overlook countless small, precious moments - moments we never paused to notice, savour, or cherish.

Looking at my ever-expanding CV and accomplishments, I felt lost, uncertain, quietly insecure, perhaps much like you. Success alone cannot bring peace if we are not living in alignment with what truly matters to us. Each day can feel disconnected from ourselves, no matter how accomplished we appear on the outside.

That's why I began a journey to become myself. Life is vast and full of unknown possibilities, and within this space I am learning to carve a life that feels genuinely mine. I invite you to walk this path alongside me.

As your coach, I will be your travelling partner on this journey. Feeling stuck or uncertain? That's natural. Stepping into uncharted territory takes courage - the courage to try new things, to navigate even if you get lost, to question old beliefs, and to face yourself honestly. You will not be alone. Together, we will explore the path, uncover your insights, and find the skills and breakthroughs that are uniquely yours.
